5 reasons why you should study your Bible with The Passion Translation

Hi people.

How’re you? January is off to a great end on my side. I hope its the same on yours. With our goals and plans for the year, came goals for spiritual growth and I’m guessing that this would have included our personal Bible Study time.

In this post, I would be reviewing The Passion Translation(TPT). I came across it when I watched a video where one of my favorite worship leaders, Darlene Zschech was reading a Bible verse out of a very flat Bible. I thought that the Bible contained only the new testament till it popped up on the screen as Psalm xx:xx(The Passion Translation). I became curious and I immediately jumped on it(Google). I saw that it was a new translation and I tried to find ways to get hold of it.

One of my favorite scriptures in TPT

It wasn’t available on the YouVersion Bible App so it meant getting a hard copy. Amazon wasn’t delivering straight to Nigeria then and it was going to cost an arm and a leg to get it here. Laterna books wasn’t even really active then. I waited till 2018 when it was available on the YouVersion Bible app and I downloaded it(the joy in my soul).

Things you should note about The Passions Translation:

  • The Passion Translation contains the New Testament, Psalms, Proverbs and Song of Songs.
  • It also has an e format (soft copy) on the You Version Bible App which I use a lot for my Bible Study (Let me know in the comments section if you want a review on the You Version Bible App). It should also be available on other Bible Apps that have multiple versions.
  • You can find other books in the old testament translated to The Passion Translation like Isaiah and Genesis. They’re stand alone books. Dr. Brian Simmons is the lead translator for the Passion translation Bible. My guess is that they are working on the entire Bible so lets keep our fingers crossed.
  • Its easy to read and really enjoyable. It doesn’t include complex words and phrases.
  • For me, the verses pour out like worship to God. I can feel the in-depth, intense, heartfelt words call out to me as I read especially when I read alongside worship music in the background.

In case you were wondering, I got mine(the hard copy) from Amazon. It sold for £20.74 (N10,000) approximately. It comes in different colors and sizes. Trust me, its worth it( As my friend @fisayoade_ said, we spend so much more on skincare and hair) so let’s invest in our spiritual growth this year. You can also get it from Laterna books in Nigeria.

I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed reviewing it. Let me know in the comments section if you’ve ever read the Passion Translation. What did you think? Did you continue using it to study?
